Last week we said our farewells and best wishes to Kate Blackstone, after 17 years at Metropolitan Press. Thank you, Kate, for the dedication and professionalism you have shown to our clients, vendors, staff and the local nonprofit community.

We held Kate’s Farewell Party at Ozona’s, off Greenville Avenue and Dyer Street – the former location of Metropolitan Press from 2001-2005, a fitting venue for saying goodbye. Here are just a few of the many heartfelt farewells from the party.

We love Kate and will miss her terribly! - Metropolitan client

She has been a great ambassador for Metropolitan! - long-time vendor

What they (Jon Shook & Kate Blackstone) have built here in North Texas, working with the nonprofit community, it’s just amazing. - Chris Kerrigan, President & CEO of Metropolitan Press

Thank you for seeing the potential in me… it created avenues and opportunities in my life that you have no idea. I don’t know where I’d be without you today. - former Metropolitan staffer

It’s difficult to encompass Kate’s impact on this company, on the staff, clients, vendors, and everyone she has worked with over her 17 years here, in just a few words. Her heart for her employees, her drive to grow the company, to attain the highest quality of products and service we can provide, how we function on a daily basis… she has had a hand in shaping all of that. Our growth from the apartment newsletter days into the printer for nonprofits that we have become took place under her guidance and perseverance, along with her fellow VP Jon Shook. The teamwork of this dynamic duo, their leadership and complementary methods and strengths, is why Metropolitan is the company it is today. I for one am thankful for their tenure together, and for Kate’s commitment to creating an encouraging, inspiring, ethical, and enjoyable workplace, where employees can grow and take part in a company they can believe in.

Thank you to our loved ones, staff members, former Metropolitan staffers, clients, vendors, and friends who joined us in saying farewell to Kate.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
- Dr. Seuss, and Kate’s email tagline. Thanks for reminding us.
