We had such a great time hosting the Communities Foundation of Texas luncheon, Leveraging North Texas Giving Day for Your Business, last week and want to say thank you to our friends and local business and organization leaders who attended, as well as Bite Bistro Dallas and Full Circle Bakery for catering the event. Over 50 businesses and organizations were represented! If you weren’t able to make it, be sure to check out the video from live streaming the event, available on the North Texas Giving Day Facebook page – if you are a local business owner or leader you will gain insight regarding how to engage and inspire employees to give back and make the most out of this year’s #NTxGivingDay on 9.19.19.
Businesses and organization leaders were given specific ways to take part in this year’s North Texas Giving Day, such as:
- How to become a sponsor and support North Texas Giving Day as a community leader
- Creating a customizable giving page – in which individual businesses can inspire giving, as they communicate why they give, and how they give back to the community, making a huge impact for local non-profits
- Tips to engage employees in giving on North Texas Giving Day
- Examples of business-nonprofit partnerships from North Texas Giving Day 2018
These examples of how local businesses have supported nonprofits on #NTxGivingDay in the past included hearing from Chris Kerrigan, Metropolitan’s founder and President, and how he began back in 2009 matching his own staff’s donations dollar for dollar. Chris described how his desire to promote employee participation in supporting local nonprofits morphed eventually into the party we host each year on North Texas Giving Day. Our Vice President, Jon Shook, spoke about the nuts and bolts of this special event. We invite our friends, clients, vendors, and the local community to join us, as we match the donations made here in the building using our own funds as well as those of businesses who partner with us for the event – to expand the available pool of funds to support even more nonprofits on that day. Last year here at Metropolitan’s #NTxGivingDay event we raised a total of over $24,000 for area nonprofit organizations – and hope to make this year’s giving day an even bigger one.
This year’s North Texas Giving Day is getting closer and closer – and after this exciting event and the excellent resources and information from Communities Foundation of Texas, local business leaders were ready to expand their reach in the community and partner with area nonprofits in new and exciting ways. Check back in for Metropolitan’s event details, and be sure to save the date – 9.19.19 – for North Texas Giving Day!
