Congratulations, North Texas Nonprofits!
The staff here at Metropolitan Press would like to offer a great big CONGRATULATIONS to North Texas nonprofit organizations, for over $58 million raised this North Texas Giving Day! What an exciting, and jaw-dropping number to reach on this oh-so-unusual (to say the least) year here in DFW and, well, worldwide. North Texans showed up for the nonprofits that mean so much to our community, and we are so excited at the result.
A Quiet Day of Heart-Felt Giving
Over here at the Metropolitan Press offices on Majesty Drive, things definitely didn’t look the way they usually do for North Texas Giving Day. We weren’t running around setting up tables, donation stations, sprucing up the seminar room, hanging banners, printing “I Gave” stickers, or stocking the coolers. We were, however, still cheering on our friends and clients who were taking part in North Texas Giving Day campaigns for their organizations, and we were, as always, matching our employees’ donations and finding new and unique ways that we as a company could give on this special day.
On that we note, we are so excited to share that $4,480 in matching donations were made by Metropolitan Press! This amount includes matching funds contributed by Clampitt Paper Company, our long-time local paper vendor, as well as additional donations made by Express Booksellers, for a grand total of $5,320, with 40 different nonprofit organizations supported! And that doesn’t even include what Metropolitan Press and Express Booksellers employees contributed themselves. We LOVE being a part of #NTxGivingDay and supporting the incredible work North Texas nonprofits are doing here in our community.
We found ways to celebrate North Texas Giving Day, as you all did I’m sure, in new ways this year. We shared a series of “Why I Give” statements from a few of our Metropolitan staff members on our social media pages. We had fun surprising our sweet nonprofit neighbors with gifts toward their Giving Day campaigns (shout out to Writer’s Garret, Oasis Center, and Shakespeare Dallas!). And we touched base with a few nonprofits through our Facebook and Instagram pages, donating $100 to those who commented on a couple of posts throughout the day. Congratulations to St. Philips School and Community Center, Readers 2 Leaders, and Friends of Lakewood, the recipients of those surprise donations!
We missed seeing our friends, clients, vendors, and neighbors and having a big ol’ party, for sure. It was a different day of giving (VERY different!) but a great one nevertheless. We can’t wait to get together for a matching party in the future, but in the meantime, thank you to Communities Foundation of Texas, and the whole North Texas Giving Day staff for making this amazing day happen, so we can all join together and give.
